I moved to Germany in 2001 and I didn’t speak a word of German. My language skills developed by watching reality TV and cooking shows on TV. My food based vocabulary has stood the test of time and thankfully due to the fantastic quality of life in Germany there has been little need for the somewhat dramatic phrases I learned back then!
